My own story; Chapter 2

It didn’t take long for Donna to get used to her new school. Rosie and Tanya introduced her to the other girls, and they were all very friendly and helpful. The three of them became best friends. One day, a couple of weeks after Donna’s arrival, Rosie and Tanya found their new friend, crying on her bed. They just came back from a day with their parents. “Donna! Honey, what’s wrong?” Tanya asked. “Have you been here on your own all day? Where are your parents?” “I don’t know! Not here, okay! Just leave me alone!” Donna snaps at them. “Baby, we’re worried about you. We’ve never seen you upset like this!” Rosie said. “You know you can trust us, right? We’re you’re friends. Please tell us what’s wrong...” Donna turned around and looked at her friends. “I got a letter from home today, you know about the relationship between my mother and me, it’s not good. She writes that she can’t come to visit me and not to bother coming home for Christmas. So, I don’t know what to do now. I don’t want to stay here on my own.” Donna wipes a tear from her face. “Oh, honey!” Rosie pulls her in a hug. “I’m going to call my mother! I’m sure you can stay with us during the holidays. I’m not letting you stay here, all on your own!!” “Oh, that’s sweet of you! Thanks.” “No problem, darling!” The three of them sat together on Donna’s bed for a while, holding hands, letting Donna cry. “Now, can you tell us what happened between you and your mother?” Tanya asked. Donna sighs, and starts her story. “Okay. My mother never wanted kids, my father did. So, when she got pregnant, she wasn’t really happy. And it got worse when I was born, she didn’t want anything to do with me. My dad on the other hand, was so happy with me. He loved me from the start. I think that made my mother jealous. So, she was always mad at me, I couldn’t do anything good. My grades weren’t good enough, nothing was good enough. She never hit me, but she ignored me most of the time. She used to humiliate me, I was stupid, ugly and I don’t know what she called me. At school I wasn’t very popular, the other kids always bullied me. So I tried to be invisible, at school and at home. I must say; it worked very well. As soon as I got home from school, I went up to my room, do my homework and be as quiet as possible…” Donna is softly crying again now, telling her friends of her life for the first time. “You know, this is hard for me. I never had any friends to talk with. No one knows about my life, I never told anybody about how my mother threaded me. You guys are the first to know. I’m feeling so stupid now, you’re probably not even interested in this crap!” “Shhhh, darling. It’s okay. Of course we’re interested, honey! It’s good to talk about your problems. It can help you.” Tanya is trying to comfort Donna, stroking her hair. “You know, it’s good to cry sometimes. Let it all out, we’re here for you,” Rosie says. Donna, feeling a bit better, smiles through her tears. “Thank you girls! I really appreciate that.” “What about your dad? How is your relation with him? Does he say anything to your mom about this all?” “My dad loved me, he was the only one who cared about me. He comforted me when mom humiliated me again. But he died four years ago, I still miss him every day. Mom didn’t, she married someone else a year after my fathers death.” “Oh, sorry. We didn’t knew that. Your mom is really a bitch, marrying someone else so soon.” “I know. But what could I do? I was just nine years old, and she didn’t listen to me. And then mom dumped me here, so that’s my life so far.” At that point, Donna makes an important decision. “You know, I don’t even care anymore. I have been thinking about this for a while, and I’m just going to do it! From now on, I’m going to change my life, and I need your help. I’m going to get rid of the old Donna. Are we allowed to get out of here?” she asks her friends. “I don’t see a reason why we’re not. It’s a school, not a prison,” Rosie jokes. All three of them have to laugh. “So, what are your plans then?” Tanya asks. “I want a transformation, a complete new look! And that’s why I need your help.” Donna tells them what she has in mind.

The next weekend, the girls went out to the nearest city, to give Donna her transformation. They bought her new clothes, Donna visited an optician to get her contacts instead of her glasses. Rosie also persuaded her to take earrings. Back at school, Tanya tries her make-up skills on Donna, and curls her long blonde hair. “Okay girls! Here I come! Watch the new Donna!” Donna walks back in their room in her new clothes. “Wow! Darling, you look absolutely gorgeous!” “You are beautiful, I don’t recognize you anymore!” “You like it? I have to get used to it.” Donna says a bit uncertain. “He, stop being uncertain, Sheridan! You have a new look, you look great!” “Really?” Donna still can’t believe it. “DONNA!!” Tanya and Rosie screamed. “Stop it! You wanted to change yourself, and you look good. What else do you want?” “You’re right! Goodbye to the old Donna, hello to the new one! But girls, promise me one thing: you must kick me when I’m uncertain again okay?” “Promised darling!” Tanya said. Rosie nods; “Promised!”

My own story; Chapter 1

Note: This is my first time I've written a complete story in English. So please forgive me any mistakes...

It’s the summer of 1979, and Donna is touring Europe with her two best friends, Rosie and Tanya. Their little band, Donna& The Dynamos is a huge success everywhere they show up. They’ve had gigs in every capital, at this moment they are in Athens, Greece, playing in a local club.
Donna is in her little room in their apartment, lying on her bed, thinking about her life so far. She only turned 20 last month, but what a life she had... Her memories got back to her youth.

Her youth wasn’t that good. As being the only child her parents had, she sometimes felt very lonely. At school she was very shy, not good in making contact with the other kids. They would bully her at school, which gave her the feeling that she wasn’t worth a while. It became worse when her father died, when she was eight years old. Her mother married another man in less then a year after it, and they would fail to look after her from that moment on. Her self-confidence disappeared slowly.

One day, she was twelve years old, her mother came to her little room and told her to pack her things. She didn’t explain why, and Donna had learned by that time not to ask any questions. A small hour later she finished, and walked down with her little suitcase. “Finally, you’re ready. Hurry up, we’re leaving!” was all her mother said. She followed her mother outside, and had to walk fast to keep up. After what felt like hours walking, her mother stopped at a large iron gate. Her mother pushed it open and walked to a great black door. She knocked and after a few moments, the door was opened. A young woman smiled at the two of them. “Hello there. Can I help you?” she asked. “Yes, I’m Mary Sheridan. I’m here to see mrs. Smith. It’s about my daughter Donna.” “Okay. Would you follow me please?” Finally, Donna tried to ask her question. “Mom, where are we?” “Shut up! You’re not supposed to ask me anything, remember!” “I know mom, I’m sorry…” Donna whispered. “You better be sorry, you stupid girl!” Mary hissed at her daughter, as they walked through a corridor.
“Mrs Smith is ready to see you now,” the woman says to them. “Thank you very much!” Mary said with a smile, being a lot nicer to her than to her daughter moments before. They entered a large office, with a huge desk in the middle. An older woman with a very friendly smile sat behind it. She stood up as Donna and her mother stepped in. She went directly to Donna, who stood there not knowing where she was, or what to say. “Hello darling. You must be Donna? I’m Elisabeth Smith. Do you know where you are?” “No, madam. My mother hasn’t told me. She just said to me that I have to pack my things, and then we went up here,” she answered. “Okay. You’re at St. Andrews, a private school for girls. Your mother thought it would be nice for you to come and stay with us. Maybe you can make friends here. There are two other girls from your age, you will share a room with them.” The only thing Donna could do was nod. She was almost crying. “Oh, honey! I think it’s better for you to say goodbye to your mom, and go to see your room and meet your roommates, don’t you think? This is miss Lynch. She will be your teacher while you’re here, and she’s also the one you can talk to, if you have any problems. She will take you to your room now, and introduce you to the other girls okay?” “Yes, that’s fine. Thank you.” Donna shakes hands with mrs. Smith, and walks out of the room.
“You okay, darling?” miss Lynch asks Donna as soon as they are together. “Yes. Yes, I’m fine. It’s a bit of a shock to come here. I haven’t got a clue that mom wants to get rid of me.” “Oh, I didn’t know it that! Your mother has told us that your relation wasn’t good, but not that it is that worse. Well, here is your room..” She knocks and walks in. “Rosie! Tanya! I want to introduce you to your new roommate.” Two girls appeared from a separated part of the room. One of them was tiny, with short red hair. The other tall, with dark hair. Both were smiling at Donna. “Hello there! I’m Rosie,” the tiny girl said. “And this is Tanya. You must be Donna. Miss Lynch has told us about you. It’s nice to meet you. I think we can have loads of fun together. Tanya and I already have, but it’s much more fun when we are with three.” Rosie said in one breath. It makes Donna feel a little more comfortable, she liked the girls. “Hi, it’s nice to meet you to, girls. I hope I will like it here.” Donna said. “Shall I leave you girls alone?” miss Lynch asked. “Rosie, Tanya, I guess you both will show Donna everything, and make her feel welcome here?” “We will make sure of that, miss.” Tanya answered.
“Okay baby!! Let’s have fun!” Rosie and Tanya said, once miss Lynch has disappeared.
